The Group of Seven Symposium of the Arts 50th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of Killarney Provincial Park by AY Jackson  is proud to announce our first recipient of the Arthur Lismer Art Education Award for Excellence.

Canadian Art Educator and artist Mark Lisson Director of the Art Department of John Paul II Catholic Secondary School in London Ontario. Marks department is responsible for the production and supervision of 10’000 works of art produced annually by the Department’s 600 students . Mark is a leader in the development of Group of Seven Canadian Art Heritage and responsible for developing the program Footsteps of the Group of Seven, students embark into the wilderness to experience and paint Group of Seven locations in Killarney Provincial Park and the JEH Macdonald sites on the Magnetawan River. We are honoured to have Mark Lisson as our first recipient of the Arthur Lismer Art Education Award for Excellence in our 5oth Anniversary Celebration of the Canadian School of Painting in Killarney Provincial Park said Executive Producer Pierre AJ Sabourin

    Congratulations, Mr. Lisson! Such an inspiring teacher, artist and friend. I had the privilege of participating in this program and meeting Pierre the fall of 2010. Looking back, this experience was the highlight of my learning at JP2. I plan on returning to the park this month. I’ll be sure to bring my acrylics.
